The Miami Heat are the NBA’s nWo

September 7, 2010

About two months or so ago, this amazing video montage of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade hit the net. The video portrays Miami’s trio as the nWo (New World Order). The nWo was one of, if not, the biggest and most important gimmick in the history of professional wrestling. It changed the world of wrestling for years, and it also meant that long-time good guy, Hulk Hogan, became the villain — it shocked the wrestling world.

Obviously on that mid-July night on ESPN, James’ announcement to join Bosh and Wade and “take his talents to South Beach,” did as well.

The video was put together really well and captures that nostalgic late 90′s big-time wrestling feel, but I do want to at least bring up the point that this blog was the first referencing the nWo gimmick with LeBron James. Regardless of who gets credit, the video is awesome. If you aren’t familiar with an nWo vignette, then check the original.

Luckily, the first exhibition game is less than a month away, only about three more weeks of complete boredom. Thankfully we at least have some World Basketball Championship action to watch in the meantime.

Shaq, Justin Bieber have a dance-off

September 3, 2010

Shaquille O’Neal loves to dance. He’s probably one of the best dancing big men of all-time, easily the best in NBA history. As far as people who are rather larger, I can honestly say Squeegee Lo is the only one who can top Shaq, and he’s not nearly as tall.

Most recently, O’Neal has developed a surprising close relationship with teen pop-star Justin Bieber. The two most recently linked up to have a dance-off on O’Neal’s ABC show Shaq Vs.

I didn’t know Bieber was that good of a dancer to be honest, but I guess it’s expected — it’s his job. That said, I have to give the prize to The Big Shamrock, Shaq’s finishing move did Bieber in.

Can’t get enough of Shaq and Bieber? Here’s footage of O’Neal joining Bieber on stage at his concert in Orlando and handling Ludacris’ verse to “Baby.”

A hilarious review of Barkley’s 1995 “Shut Up and Jam 2″ video game

August 31, 2010

Back in the early 90′s there were so many basketball video games to choose from: Double Dribble (click this link to play one of the sequels), Hoops, NBA Jam and plenty others, including the EA Sports assortment which turned into the NBA Live series. Now things seem limited — thankfully NBA Jam returns Oct. 5.

There was also a ridiculous game by the name of Barkley: Shut Up and Jam! The game was released on Super NES, Sega Genesis and even…wait for it…the Atari Jaguar. I remember the first time I played the game, it had a bunch of ridiculous characters and of course, Sir Charles Barkley himself. Yes, I chose to play as Barkley and within moments of playing the game I heard his voice say, “Go get the damn ball!”

I was shocked. One reason being, the video game was talking to me — almost non-existent back then. Another being, the game just swore at me. That was a big deal back in 1994.

The game was absurd and not that great, especially if you consider the fact that NBA Jam existed. Through some YouTubing, I found this excellent, outrageous, but actually pretty damn funny review of the game’s 1995 sequel — Shut Up and Jam 2. It starts out with a blank image for a minute and the reviewer coughing, but trust me, it gets better and he covers the game in all it’s glory.

Thankfully when I bought NBA Jam on Super NES, I got it the first day it came out, which meant that Barkley was in my game. He was taken out of later copies because of his exclusivity rights for Shut Up and Jam and it’s sequel.

WARNING: The review contains rated “R” language

Wade’s ‘kiddie rap’ music video

July 27, 2010

Last week, Dwyane Wade went on The Tonight Show and busted out one of his “kiddie raps.” It didn’t take long before someone made a YouTube video of Wade and his flow, which is better than Flo Rida’s Miami Heat anthem, because that song is just awful.

Shaq sings to Justin Bieber

July 27, 2010

For one reason or another, Shaquille O’Neal was at an arena when singer Justin Bieber was prepping his performance in front of his crazy fans. Shaq decided to get on the mic and sing to the teen phenomenon, proclaiming that he hopes Bieber loves him and that he’s Bieber’s biggest fan.

At 7-foot-1, that’s probably true, unless Shawn Bradley gets down to The Biebs.

Carlos Arroyo, Layeth the Smackdown

July 26, 2010

Carlos Arroyo cannot be blamed for title chasing, he was with the Miami Heat last year. Plus, if you say anything about him being a ring chaser, he’ll probably smack you across the face.

Arroyo, who plays for Puerto Rico’s national team, and a player on Mexico’s team got a little heated and the Heat guard had no problem showing his opponent that his pimp hand is strong.

Kevin Malone from “The Office,” Charles Barkley sing Bon Jovi

July 26, 2010

If someone were to come up to me and say that there is a video of Karl Malone and Charles Barkley singing Bon Jovi, I wouldn’t believe them. Even more strange and less probable would be a video of  Kevin Malone, from NBC’s “The Office,” and Charles Barkley.

One of these two videos does exist and as Kevin Garnett says, “Anything is possiblllleeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

A couple of weeks ago at the American Century Golf Tournament in Lake Tahoe, Brian Baumgartner, who plays Malone, took the stage to belt out some “Livin’ on a Prayer.” Fortunately, Barkley was nearby. Granted Barkley wouldn’t grab on stage and grab the mic, it’s still one of the oddest pairings to even be that close to each other for that particular moment in time.

I think golf is kind of stupid, but if it really has the power to bring these types of groupings together, then we need more golf outings, quick.

Of course, I wish a better version of the video existed, but taking in mind that it’s low quality just proves to you how rare of a moment this was.

‘Double Rainbow Guy’ also on Kimmel

July 23, 2010

A couple of weeks ago, I saw Jimmy Kimmel post a link on his Twitter to the “Double Rainbow” video on YouTube, which has since become the latest viral video sensation. The video blew my mind, I literally was in tears laughing and immediately sent it out to my usual group of friends whom I forward e-mails to. Some of them loved it and others thought it was dumb. Nonetheless, I think it’s one of the greatest video in the history of the internet, if not the greatest.

Last night, in addition to D-Wade, Kimmel invited Paul “Bear” Vasquez to his show. Bear is the man behind the camera whose genuine and insane reactions to seeing a “double rainbow all the way across” have given him his 15 minutes. Since I love the video so much, I figured I’d share this two part interview with you.

Part 2 after the break…

Wade continuing his late-night tour, hits Jimmy Kimmel Live

July 23, 2010

Dwyane Wade did The Tonight Show earlier this week and continued his tour of the late-night circuit while hitting Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. The interview is pretty hilarious and Kimmel calls Riley out on tampering based on Wade’s statement, so that was sweet too. Kimmel is the best talk show host on television, make no doubts about it. His show is pure awesome.

Just to keep tabs, Wade is making his late-night rounds and LeBron is LeBron and had “The Decision.” I wonder when Chris Bosh is going to get sick of being the third wheel, same goes for Juwan Howard, why isn’t he getting any solo pub?

The interview is two parts, so make sure to watch both. The interview covers all the basic things we’ve already heard about this free-agency circus, and Wade says that he wouldn’t play for Cleveland if Bosh and LeBron both went there. The pain in Cleveland just never stops.
