Video Heaven: Rodman interviews and The Admiral crashes

August 27, 2010

I’m making this post about me. Why? Because two of my favorite players ever are in this clip, and I was not expecting this when I began to watch it.

Two weeks back Dennis Rodman was interviewed at the Hall of Fame Ceremony by CBS 3 in Springfield. I will watch anything with Rodman, he’s an icon and the greatest defender of all-time. Rodman is always entertaining, and most importantly, the guy was a great teammate. This year Rodman showed up to support his former teammate Scottie Pippen and last year he came through for both Michael Jordan and David Robinson.

This interview went from great to legendary when Robinson crashes and the two begin to reminisce on their relationship and time together in San Antonio. I honestly almost began to breathe heavy, that’s how excited I was. My two favorite players ever (along with Ben Wallace) in one interview, unexpectedly.

Seriously, the only way this interview could be better is if Wallace, Bill Cosby, Will Smith, Hulk Hogan and Kanye West showed up — seriously.

Wade continuing his late-night tour, hits Jimmy Kimmel Live

July 23, 2010

Dwyane Wade did The Tonight Show earlier this week and continued his tour of the late-night circuit while hitting Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. The interview is pretty hilarious and Kimmel calls Riley out on tampering based on Wade’s statement, so that was sweet too. Kimmel is the best talk show host on television, make no doubts about it. His show is pure awesome.

Just to keep tabs, Wade is making his late-night rounds and LeBron is LeBron and had “The Decision.” I wonder when Chris Bosh is going to get sick of being the third wheel, same goes for Juwan Howard, why isn’t he getting any solo pub?

The interview is two parts, so make sure to watch both. The interview covers all the basic things we’ve already heard about this free-agency circus, and Wade says that he wouldn’t play for Cleveland if Bosh and LeBron both went there. The pain in Cleveland just never stops.

Ron Artest: The champion of interviews

June 23, 2010

Since hitting the big shot in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals and helping the Los Angeles Lakers become the 2010 NBA Champions, Ron Artest has led quite the life in the spotlight. His interviews have to be the greatest post-game interviews in NBA Finals history. Not only are they some of the most genuine interviews we’ve ever seen — they’re also flat out hilarious and crazy.

Here are a couple of gems from Artest, starting with his first interview right after the game — he thanks his hood and his psychiatrist. Continue watching all these interviews to hear Artest scream about being on a Wheaties box, call out a reporter looking at their laptop and also ask his daughter why she keeps staring at him.

All of these are just priceless, Artest winning the title and all these interviews make me realize that at no point in the series did I really want Boston to win.

Hurry up and watch these, Ron “wants to go to the club.”

Derek Fisher gets emotional after victory

June 9, 2010

It might be a small stretch to say that the Lakers “had” to win Game 3, but I wouldn’t say it was out of the question. With the series back in Boston, and the Celtics having stolen home court, the Lakers wouldn’t be in a good position if they were down 2-1 with two games left to play in Boston.

Luckily, they don’t have to worry about that. The Lakers stole the first game on the road, and have regained control of this series after a 91-84 victory. When the Lakers needed big shots down the stretch, it wasn’t about Kobe Bryant. Tuesday night was all Derek Fisher. Fisher was incredible, as always in the clutch, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter.

I can go on and on about how instrumental Fisher is to this team, but you should already know that by now. If you don’t, expect a write up coming soon.

Fisher was emotional during the post-game interview. Anyone who has the audacity to make a crack at Fisher, realize that if he punched you in the face, you’d have four championship rings imprinted on your forehead. Hell, if you wait another week, you might have five — so chill out tough guys, real men cry and Fisher is a helluva man.

DJ Mbenga is just the greatest

April 28, 2010

You know that I love Lakers backup center DJ Mbenga. What’s not to like? The guy is absolutely fantastic. When Ron Artest died his hair, so did Mbenga. He actually didn’t shave his head either (as Artest has done-ditching the blonde). Plus Mbenga matched the hair to an orange suit yesterday — he’s like a Fanta spokesperson.

Just watch this, and enjoy Mbenga.

Props, Elie Seckbach

Conan still gone, Barkley does Leno

February 9, 2010

Everyone hates Jay Leno, because Conan’s ratings were bad and NBC didn’t want to give him a fair shot to improve on them. I don’t understand it, but nobody should be dogging Leno. The people that watch late-night TV during that time slot, obviously just don’t understand Conan’s humor. Nevertheless, Conan bowed out gracefully and Leno will be taking back “The Tonight Show” in just a couple weeks.

Before the change takes place, Charles Barkley swung by “The Jay Leno Show” to do the ’10 at 10′ segment.

Samuel Dalembert on Larry King Live

January 19, 2010

Philadelphia 76ers’ center Samuel Dalembert has been a face for Haiti in the United States since the tragic earthquake last week. He appeared on Larry King Live last week to discuss the tragedy.

Dalembert was excused from the Sixers today to travel to his native country, he’s already donated $100,000 through his organization to UNICEF. He is expected to play in Wednesday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

DJ Mbenga’s remarkable journey

December 10, 2009

I’m a huge fan of DJ Mbenga, if you didn’t know. The guy is amazing, he has a remarkable story and he’s a blackbelt in judo.

Watch this to learn more about my favorite member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Another tidbit in case you didn’t know, Mbenga loves tacos.

Tim Donaghy on 60 Minutes

December 9, 2009

There is no doubt that Tim Donaghy is shady. There is no doubt that the guy definitely wouldn’t mind making money off of a book, some interviews or anything else he can do to get some pub and speak out.

Same goes for Jose Canseco, but look at what he uncovered.

Is Donaghy on to the same chase? I don’t think so, but he brings up some interesting things to think about.

I think we all always knew that stars get favorable calls, and the refs have some bias. In that same breath, I think we can say for the most part, it’s never totally ruined an NBA game or season.

Well, except for the 2006 Miami Heat.

Donaghy did “60 Minutes” Sunday night, and this was definitely worth watching and it it has my head spinning a bit.
