I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Oakland University in 2007. While at Oakland I was the Sports Director at 88.3 FM WXOU. I spent time as both a color commentator and play-by-play broadcaster for bothย  the men’s and women’s Oakland basketball teams. In addition to broadcasting for the Golden Grizzlies, I also co-hosted the station’s weekly two-hour sports program, “Totally Raw Sports.”

The inspiration for this blog comes from none other than The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which is one of the greatest television shows of all-time. When you think about that show, you think about years like 1991, ’93 and ’95. Bright colors, crazy fresh sneakers, great hip-hop and awesome clothes. Growing up back then has had a huge impact on not only my current style, but my true love of the game from that era.

The NBA is fantastic right now. I think the game is incredible, but the early 90′s was an amazing time for the league. Michael Jordan was winning titles like crazy, Charles Barkley was winning the MVP, Dennis Rodman was dying his hair, Shaquille O’Neal was a young kid taking the league by storm and Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway were becomming the league’s most popular players.

I could go on forever about that era, probably talking about the basketball cards in my basement alone.

That’s what this whole thing is about, along with other great elements of things related to hip-hop, sneakers, etc.

This is an NBA blog and my number one passion is basketball, but I’m also not one-dimensional, so be prepared to be caught off-guard now and again.
